For young people from age 5 to 18. Instruments may be lent to students free of charge. • the Music For All program. A wide range of musical activities for all members of the community, both young and old. Students are assessed through the examinations of any of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) UK, the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), and, for Arab music, Sharqiyyat. Performance teachers are selected from members of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and other prestigious institutions. Some study of music therapy methods is available. Research into traditional Arab music of Qatar and the wider Arabian Gulf region is encouraged. Facilities include fine classroom and performance spaces, a music laboratory and a well-equipped library. The Academy is an All-Steinway School, the first in the Middle East.
