Institution Notes:
The Center was established at Hokkaido University in 2007. It is not a teaching body, but conducts comprehensive and interdisciplinary research into Ainu and other indigenous peoples around the world, and provides education and public information about their cultures. It organises lessons, lectures and other events as well as museum exhibitions. There are exchange agreements with several other universities in the USA, Canada, Europe and Asia.
