Details:
The course is organised in cycles - the first cycle (preparatory) (éveil musical’), four years, the cycle second, four years. The third ('cycle d’orientation professionnelle') is the pre-professional cycle, after which students may enter a full program of higher study.
Institution Notes:
The Conservatoire was founded in 1988 as a Regional School of Music and Dance (École de Musique et de Danse Régionale) but since 2013 it has been classed as a Conservatoire à Rayonnement Départemental and included programs in theatre. Music performance programs cover tuition in Western classical and jazz/popular instruments as well as indigenous instruments and styles of French Guyana and its environs. In addition to the pre-professional program the Conservatoire offers music tuition to children and interested members of the local community.
