Institution Notes:

The Centre for Asia Minor Studies was established in 1930. It is not a teaching institution, but is a scientific institute involved in the collection, research and documentation of oral and written historical tradition related to Asia Minor Greeks. The Musical Folklore Archives form the oldest department of the Centre. Since 1975 the researchers have made over 50 expeditions to various parts of the country, collecting and recording songs and airs to enable the study of the music, linguistic and ethnographic peculiarities of each locality and to research influences on and from neighbouring peoples. The collections consist of unpublished manuscripts and documents, record collections and instrument collections as well as an oral tradition archive. There is a library and a number of publications about the resource.
