Institution Notes:

The University of Zagreb is the oldest in Croatia, being founded in 1669. The Music Academy can trace history back to 1829. Following several organisational changes the Academy was incorporated into the University of Zagreb in 1979. There are departments of performance, composition, theory, musicology, conducting and music education. Since 1969 the Academy has been the co-publisher of two musicological journals: Arti Musices (Croatian Musicological Review), and International Review of the Aesthetics and Sociology of Music. Language of instruction is Croatian though some programs are given in English. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
