Diplôme d’études musicales (DEM). A three-year pre-professional program in classical and contemporary performance and associated studies which may include early music, theory, aural skills and composition.
Institution Notes:
The Conservatoire can trace its history back to 1784. It is a public institution offering programs in music, classical and contemporary dance and drama. The program is organised in cycles. The first (preparatory) (éveil musical’), four years, the second, four years, the third ('cycle d’orientation professionnelle') and fourth ('cycle d’enseignement supérieur professionnelle'). There are programs for the handicapped as well as a program in Feldenkraïs. The Conservatoire works in tandem with the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Chambéry, though both are separate institutions.
