Institution Notes:
The Académie International de Musique is a private institution training students in contemporary styles of performance and music technology. It was founded in 1982 as the Creative Music Center, and gained its current name and status in 1996. There are four departments: Jazz Academy, Pop Academy, Music Production and Film Music. Attention is given to wellness and prevention of injury for students, particularly avoiding hearing problems. Facilities include state-of-the-art recording and production studios. The courses are recognised by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, but the Diplomas are issued by the institution, not by the State. There is a relationship with the Berklee International Network for Contemporary Music Education (headquarters in Boston, USA), enabling students to complete the BA in Contemporary Music in Berklee.
