Undergraduate program


Bachelor of Music. Concentrations in performance (classical, jazz/rock, folk), musicology, ethnomusicology, choral and instrumental conducting, composition, music education (including Orff and Dalcroze methods).


Graduate program


Master of Music in Music Education (MMuEd). Includes the areas of curriculum development, world music pedagogy, creativity, improvisation and composition, conducting, music technology, research methodology, among others. Offered in both Greek and English. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). In music education.

Institution Notes:

The University was founded in 1961 as Cyprus College. It was granted its current name and status in 2007, the School of Arts and Education Sciences being established in the same year. Languages of instruction are Greek and English. The European University of Cyprus belongs to the network of Laureate International Universities which includes 70 universities in 29 countries, with a total of over 800,000 students. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.

Cyprus is currently divided into the larger southern area, with a predominantly Greek Cypriot population and the smaller northern sector inhabited primarily by Turkish Cypriots. Large schools may employ a specialised music teacher, but smaller ones require the class teacher to give music instruction. CYPRUS MUSIC INFORMATION CENTRE The Cyprus Music Information Centre (CyMIC) was established in 2008 by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra Foundation. It aims to promote and encourage development, production and appreciation of the music created by Cypriot composers and musicians.
