This research institute issues books, CDs and the journal 'Música e Investigación' on such topics as ethnomusicology, folklore and historical musicology in Argentina and other Latin American countries.
Institution Notes:
The Institute, founded in 1931, is currently organised under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture. With the objective being to study the musics produced in Argentina and other Latin American countries, it organises annual conferences of musicologists from Latin-American countries and holds the Archivo Nacional de Música - a vast collection of archival resource material (tape, video, film, manuscript) on Argentinian composers, indigenous Argentinian aboriginal music and Indian music from several other South American countries. The website displays a virtual museum of musical instruments of Latin-America.
