Institution Notes:
The University can trace its history back to 1707 and was granted its current name and status in 1975. The Academy (formerly the Zagreb Music Academy, Osijek branch), was incorporated into the University in 2004 and comprises three departments - music (piano, singing, music education), fine arts and theatre as well as a Chair of Theatre Design. There is an active opera program. The Faculty of Education was formerly known as a teacher training college, but became a faculty in its own right in 2005.
