Bachelor of Arts. Studies include performance (Chinese and Western popular song, jazz, folk), theory, composition, history of Chinese and Western musics, history of jazz and rock, songwriting, sound engineering, recording and production techniques, arts management, music education, music business. A piano tuning course is available.
Institution Notes:
The Beijing Contemporary Music Academy was founded in 1993 with the aim of training young musicians in the philosophy and arts of contemporary music and enabling them to teach it to their students. The curriculum emphasizes the combination of modern and traditional arts in both Eastern and Western styles. The Academy comprises departments of popular singing, jazz, new folk music, Western performance, music education, music production, recording arts, modern and international dance, visual art, TV and film, music business and arts management. Facilities include 180 teaching and practice rooms, dance practising halls, studios for audio, video, MIDI, electric piano, film and TV production.
