The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB)is a company consisting of members from each Australian State: The Universities of Melbourne, Adelaide, and Western Australia, and the Minister for Education in each of New South Wales, Queensland and Tasmania. The Federal Office is in Melbourne, and the Board is affiliated with the University of Melbourne. There is an office in each participating State. The AMEB is not a teaching body, but exists to organise a series of public examinations in performance, Rock School and theoretical subjects culminating in the awards of: AMusA (Associate in Music, Australia), offered in performance, theory (any of harmony & counterpoint, musicology or orchestration and arranging), musicianship. LMusA (Licentiate in Music, Australia), offered in performance, theory (any of harmony & counterpoint, musicology or orchestration and arranging). CTMusA (Certificate Teacher of Music Australia). ATMusA (Associate Teacher of Music Australia). LTMusA (Licentiate Teacher of Music Australia). There are also programs in speech and communication leading to diploma levels.
