The Kazakh National University of the Arts was founded in 1998 as the Kazakh National Academy of Music and gained its current name and status in 2009. It offers programs in music, drama and fine arts, film and fashion design. As well as its professional programs in music it offers music training to school-age children. The Academy holds an annual international competition for performers. An Associate member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
