This Conservatoire forms part of a network of nine conservatoires in the Province of Quebec, known as the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique du Québec, established in 1943 in Montreal and by 1973 it had expanded to its present nine campuses. The head office is at 225 Grande Allée Est, Bloc C, 3rd floor, Québec, QC, G1R 5G5. Tel +1 418 380 2327 Email: info@conservatoire.gouv.qc.ca. Seven of the institutions are conservatoires of music (in Gatineau, Montréal, Québec City, Rimouski, Saguenay, Trois-Rivières and Val-d’Or), the other two being also conservatoires of dramatic art (in Québec City and Montréal). The Montréal campus has some fine performance spaces, a well-equipped electroacoustic lab, a multimedia studio and an extensive music library. In addition to the professional programs there are programs for talented young students. Language of instruction is French. The conservatoire group is a member of the Association Europénne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen. The program of studies consists of five cycles: 1st cycle: Preparatory studies (Études préparatoires) 2nd cycle: Intermediate studies (Études intermédiaires) 3rd cycle: First level of higher studies (Études supérieures I). Equivalent to a university Bachelor’s degree. 4th cycle: Second level of higher studies (Études supérieures II). Equivalent to a Master’s degree. 5th cycle: Perfectionnement level (Stage de perfectionnement). Offered only in Montréal and Québec. A pre-professional music program for talented young people has been established.
