Institution Notes:

Founded in 1872, Trinity College of Music is an independent foundation receiving a government grant. In 2005 Trinity College of Music and Laban contemporary dance programs merged to form Trinity Laban, the United Kingdom's first conservatoire of music and contemporary dance. Music programs are delivered at the Trinity College campus in Greenwich. Facilities at the Old Royal Naval College include the 100-seat Peacock Room, a 100-seat Theatre Studio with sprung dance floor, rooms for chamber music, over 80 practice rooms and dedicated suites for brass, composition, early music, harp, jazz and percussion. There is a well-equipped state-of-the-art digital recording studio. The Conservatoire has a Collaboration Lab (CoLab), a learning space where students are encouraged to take creative risks in collaboration with staff and students from across the institution and from other professional partner organisations. Degrees are validated by the City University, London. The College owns a large collection of period instruments including shawms, crumhorns, baroque flutes, oboes, bassoons, trumpets, sackbutts and cornetti as well a a large number of keyboard instruments, both period and modern. The Trinity Music Education Consultancy offers a consultancy service for all involved in the music education profession. A system on individualised programs of study is offered, though such programs do not lead to a formal qualification; a transcript of the program is presented to each student upon completion. The Junior Department offers Saturday tuition in practical and ensemble music and creative musicianship to young students aged 11 to 19. Junior ensembles include symphony orchestra, two smaller orchestras, string ensemble, wind band, numerous wind and percussion ensembles and two choirs. There is an annual Young Musicians' Summer School. String Time is for children aged 3 to 11, with Trinity Teenies for the very young aged from 3 to 5. The Hon FTCL (Honorary Fellow of Trinity College, London) is the College’s only honorary award. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
