Institution Notes:

Founded in 1936, the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan is the oldest musical institution in Central Asia. The Conservatory occupies a new building erected in 2002 and is organised into six faculties: academic performance, music art, musical pedagogy, Uzbek musical, pop arts, further training and retraining. Facilities include four concert halls, 305 teaching rooms, rehearsal rooms and classrooms, as well as four state-of-the-art sound recording studios. The Conservatory houses a museum of national instruments, a research centre, a music library (with a sound archive of Uzbek musical heritage), and a publishing house ‘Music’. There is an associated Academic Lyceum for talented teenagers offering a three-year pre-professional program.
