Details:
Licence Musicologie or Musique (= Bachelor of Arts). Three years. Studies include performance (classical, jazz), music history, ethnomusicology, aesthetics.Offered through the University of Aix-en-Provence. Diplôme national supérieur professionnel de musicien (DNSPM) (= Bachelor of Music). Studies include performance (classical, jazz, early music), choral conducting, composition, electro-acoustic composition. Diplôme d’État de professeur de musique (DE). Gives the qualification to teach music in schools. May be taken concurrently with years 2 and 3 of the Bachelor.
Institution Notes:
The IESM is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Communication. Formerly the Centre was located in Aubagne, but in 2013 it was moved to Aix-en-Provence. It collaborates with regional conservatoires and universities with music departments.
