Details:

Diploma. Completion of the first three levels of program - preparatory, elementary and intermediate - qualifies students to receive the Diploma following which they may enter the proposed professional degree program of the Conservatory or any other university degree program. Studies leading to the diploma include performance (Western or Arabic instruments, jazz, world music), theory, history and appreciation of Arabic music, ear training, ensemble participation.


Institution Notes:

The Conservatory, established in 1993, is an affiliate of Birzeit University. There are branches in Ramallah and Bethlehem. Currently there are three levels of study: Preparatory (children up to 8 years), Elementary, and Intermediate. Completion of the three levels students are eligible for a diploma qualifying them to enter the proposed university level program. Performance tuition is offered to interested members of the public. A regular concert series is organised in each of the branches, and competitions, workshops and an annual summer camp form part of the program. The Conservatory’s production unit has released a number of CDs of Palestinian and other Arabic music performed by local artists, while its publication unit has produced music materials for the performance and theory programs.
