Bachelor of Science - Music. Studies include performance (classical, traditional Arabic instruments), composition, theory, solfège, musicology, music technology.
Institution Notes:
A private university established in 1989 and specialising in the teaching of music. It was Jordan's first accredited private university to grant a Bachelor of Music degree. Studies include Western classical music with some emphasis on voice, with an Arabic music stream introduced in 1996. The library holds a collection of books and scores of Arabic musicians as well as videos and CDs of Arabic music. There is a collection of instruments available for loan to students. Besides its professional programs the Academy offers music instruction in both Arabic and Western music to interested members of the community. Students at the Academy are offered the chance to take the music examinations of the ABRSM (Great Britain).
