An instrument workshop manufactures instruments and conducts research on improvements to existing instruments. Courses are taught in Kazakh and Russian. A State program of Cultural Heritage includes a section of folklore study, literature study and art study, the latter holding a five-volume Anthology of Kazakh Music, including folk music, ceremonial music, epics and lyrics. The Conservatory has issued CDs: Kazakh folk music, Kazakh lyric songs, Kazakh instrumental music and Kazakh musical epic, with performances by prominent traditional musicians of the past. It also organises international festivals and competitions. Member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
