Institution Notes:
With a history dating back to 1948, this was the first private non-sectarian university in Colombia. It is commonly known as 'Uniandes'. The music department was established in 1981. It houses a computer and electronic music laboratory available to both composition and general music students. The music department also develops programs jointly with the drama department. In addition to the professional programs there are extension courses for interested persons in the local community and a junior department providing basic music training to young children from age 4.
