Daystar University, founded in 1964, is a private, non-denominational, evangelical Christian liberal arts college. Originally located in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, it was moved to Kenya following the civil war in Zimbabwe in 1974. It is linked with organisations in the United States of America and in Canada. There are three campuses - the main being near Athi River town, 39 kilometres southeast of Nairobi, the others being in Nairobi City and Mombasa. The music education programs are offered in Nairobi and Athi River. In addition to the above programs music may be taken as a minor study within other courses. Short courses of up to six weeks in Christian music communication for church workers are available.
