Institution Notes:
The University of Prishtina was originally founded in 1969. In 1999, due to the political situation, this institution (formerly known as the Academy of Arts), was relocated to the central Serbian town of Krusevac but is now located in Prishtina. This is the Albanian branch of the original university. The Serbian branch was earlier called the University of Mitrovica, but also now calls itself Prishtina University (Univerzitet u Prištini). The two branches are quite independent of one another. The Albanian branch consists of 14 faculties in Prishtina, with three branches in other cities. It has revised the curriculum along the lines of the Bologna pattern to allow for a modular structure with greater flexibility of choice for students. The Faculty of Arts in Prishtina consists of departments of visual arts, musical arts and dramatic arts.
