Institution Notes:
The Kuwaiti government's body involved in artistic life is the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters, founded in 1976. It comprises four separate institutions: • Higher Institute of Musical Arts; • Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts; • Kuwait Central Library; • Kuwaiti Center of International Theatre. The Higher Institute of Musical Arts aims to develop music and musical arts in Kuwaiti society, though in the current climate it does not receive sufficient funding to enable innovation in musical arts.
