Institution Notes:

This private, non-sectarian co-educational institution was founded in 1866. In 2004 the Zaki Nassif Program for Music was inaugurated at the University, being housed in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. It aims to preserve and promote the musical heritage of the composer Zaki Nassif and to foster excellence in the teaching of music by organising competition, concerts, conferences and seminars. It seeks to initiate new courses and new programs in Lebanese and Oriental Music at the University's department of Fine Arts and Art History. In 2004 the Program organised a school competition 'A choir from every school' and in 2015 it established an 'AUB Zaki Nassif Arabic Ensemble' whose members belong to the University's community at large. The library holds all of Zaki Nassif's archives and compositions. Language of instruction is English.
