Diplôme de Fin d’Études (Musique). Studies include performance on two instruments, one traditional, one Western, choral ensemble, music history (African and Western), music education.
Institution Notes:
The Institute was founded in 1963 though it can trace its history back to 1933. It comprises five divisions – Music, Visual Arts, Theatre Arts, Crafts, and Socio-Cultural Animation. It conducts research programs in the arts and acts as a centre for the preservation and development of Malian music and culture. The music division trains school music teachers and instrumentalists with studies in both traditional and Western music. It also provides instruments to underprivileged students.
