Licenciatura en Música (=Bachelor). Studies include performance (classical, opera), musicology, choral conducting, composition.
Institution Notes:
The Conservatorio can trace its history back to 1743 and is housed in the ex-convent of the Dominican nuns, built in 1590, thus being the oldest conservatory of music in Mexico. Age limits apply on entry to most programs. The National Centre of Music Composition ‘Gerhart Muench’ is located here. A junior department offers music tuition to pre-school, primary and secondary students through its 'Música para la Vida' (Music for Life) program. There are also music programs for interested members of the local community.
