Institution Notes:
The Conservatory was founded in 1938 as Lu Xun Academy of Arts and was granted its current name in 1958. It occupies four campuses - in Shenyang, Dalian, Taoxian and Chanqing. There are departments of performance (Western and Chinese instruments and vocal music), popular music, composition/theory, conducting, musicology, popular music, music education, instrument making, dance. Two affiliated secondary schools are attached, one for music and one for dance. There is a research institute for music literature and also a musical instrument building and repair facility on campus.
