Institution Notes:
The Conservatoire was founded in 1940 and a complete renovation was opened in 2013. It is the oldest Conservatory in Africa, and operates under the Ministry of Culture. Part-time studies in Western and Arabic instruments and theoretical subjects are offered to young people and interested adults. There are also courses in drama and dance. A system of conservatoires de Musique is organised in Morocco to enable communities to have access to music training for both children and adults. The curriculum for the Conservatoire in Casablanca is basically the same as those in Fès, Kenitra, Marrakech, Chefchaouen, Ksar El Kebir, Laayoune, Larache, Meknes, Oujda, Safi and Taza.
