Institution Notes:
The University was founded in 1902. Bachelor’s degrees in music teaching are offered through the School of Music, established in its current form in 2000. Taizhou College, established in 2004, is an undergraduate-level independent college providing programs under the aegis of the University. The School of Music has departments of Chinese music education, history of Chinese music, Chinese music performance, music education research, performance, theory, dance, artistic practice, as well as a music education experimental centre, a song and dance theatre and a centre for continuing education. Facilities include an acoustic laboratory and an extensive library. The music school operates on three campuses. On the Suiyuan campus facilities include 103 pianos, 30 accordions and over 350 other foreign and Chinese instruments. On the Xianlin campus there is a 300-seat performance hall, four multimedia classrooms, two dance rehearsal rooms, 160 piano-equipped classrooms, an electronic piano classroom, a MIDI studio and numerous other classrooms.
