Undergraduate program

Bachelor of Music. Four years. Studies include performance (classical, jazz/pop, early music, opera), composition, theory, choral, band and orchestral conducting. Bachelor of Music in Education.

Graduate program

Master of Arts. In performance (classical, jazz, solo, opera, accompanying, chamber music), choral, band and orchestral conducting, composition, arranging, theory, music technology. Master of Music, Education Track.

The Conservatory of Maastricht and Fontys Conservatorium (formerly known as Brabants Conservatorium) joined in 2001 to form the Zuid-Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek (South Netherlands Higher School of Music) which in turn has become the Faculty of Music of the Hogeschool Zuyd (Zuyd University). The University’s arts sector comprises the Zuid-Nederlandse Hogeschool voor Muziek, the Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Drama. There is a Junior School The Conservatorium Maastricht has organised the European Opera Academy - a platform of music academies which open up best practices in opera education for young professionals, giving them connections with opera houses, vocal competitions and festivals. In 2022 participating academies are: Antwerp, Cardiff, Florence, Hamburg, Geneva, Linz, Łódź, Maastricht, Oslo, Parma, Porto, Riga, Stockholm, Valencia, Iceland, Novara and Vilnius. Facilities include some fine performing spaces and high quality equipment in its studios. Music programs are taught in English. The school organises programs for children and young people - a Young Talent Class and a Preparatory Class, junior classical and jazz departments. Short courses are available as well as classical masterclasses. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
