Institution Notes:
The University, the largest in The Netherlands, can trace its history back to 1632. The School houses the Jaap Kunst Ethnomusicology Centre (Etnomusicologisch Centrum ‘Jaap Kunst’), which, while studying musics of most regions of the world, specialises in traditional musics of Indonesia, the The Netherlands Antilles, China, Japan, Arabic countries and the The Netherlands. It has a collection of recordings, photographs, slides, films and videos as well as an extensive library dealing with ethnomusicological topics.
