Institution Notes:
The university was founded in 1945 and gained its current name and status in 2005. It is located in Bjergsted Park close to the centres of the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra, the Stavanger Concert Hall, the Stavanger Concert Society and the Norwegian Institute of Recorded Sound, among other institutions. Facilities include fine performance spaces including a concert hall. There is an annual opera production. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
