Institution Notes:

The Norwegian Academy of Music was established in 1973 and is regarded as equivalent to a university. Language of instruction in class is Norwegian; individual tuition may be in another language, mostly English. The Academy has a Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowships Program, regarded as equivalent to doctoral level. In addition to the professional programs the Academy offers talent development programs for young people up to age 19 and individual lessons to interested members of the local community. It also offers professional development programs to teachers. There is a Students' School of Music which offers instrumental lessons and music instruction by the Academy's music students. Facilities include two concert halls. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen. .
