Licenciatura en Música (=Bachelor). Studies include performance (Western, traditional instruments, opera), choral and instrumental conducting, composition, music history, music education.
Institution Notes:
The University was founded in 1908 and was earlier known as the Conservatorio Nacional de Música. It houses a Centre of Music Research, a well-equipped electroacoustic music laboratory and an extensive library. A number of ensembles have been formed, including an early music group and an opera workshop. There are six affiliated music institutes in provincial towns: Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cuzco, Huánaco, Piura and Trujillo. A pre-conservatory program is offered, providing basic music training to young people from pre-school to secondary school age.
