Institution Notes:

The Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music is one of five institutions owned by and organized under the sponsorship of the Philippine Episcopal Church and the Philippine Independent Church. It was founded in 1980, and admits students from different Christian communions from Asia, the Pacific, some even from Africa. The Samba-Likhaan Artists’ Community is attached to the Institute and was founded in 1992, being named from two Filipino words, Samba (= worship) and Likha (= creation). It operates two centres: • Asian Institute of Liturgy and Music. The school holds a collection of Asian instruments commonly used in worship. • Center for the Performing and Creative Arts in Asia, where artists, theologians and students live and work together experimenting, creating, performing and sharing ideas. Artists may stay for six to twelve months to reflect on faith, culture and the arts. The community seeks to address the need to place art, music and dance and other cultural activities in the service of the community to enhance life and spirituality.
