A broad range of specialisations is offered, and studies may include performance (classical, jazz, early music, opera), choral, orchestral and opera conducting, composition, electronic music, theory, church music, stage movement, music education, violin making. The department of calisthenics offers programs in Dalcroze eurhythmics and folk and historical dance.

The Paderewske Academy of Music (Akademia Muzyczna im. Ignacego Jana Paderewskiego w Poznaniu) was founded in 1920 and has a branch in Szczecin. It gained its current name and status in 1982 and is regarded as equivalent in status to a university. There are five faculties: • Faculty of Composition, Conducting, Music Theory and Eurhythmics; • Faculty of Instrumental Performance; • Faculty of Vocal and Acting Studies; • Faculty of Choral Conducting, Music Education and Church Music; • Faculty of String Instruments, Harp, Guitar and Violin-making (in conjunction with the Museum of Musical Instruments). The Academy hosts a number of competitions: • International Piano Competition. • International Composition Competition. • International Violin Making Competition. • Grand Prix of the Polish Choir Stefan Stuligrosz: Poznań • National Choir Conductors Competition. • National Percussion Competition. • Academic Organ Competition. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
