Institution Notes:
The Instituto Politécnico de Port can trace its history back to 1852. It was given its current name and status in 1985 with the integration of the School of Education and the School of Music. The Instituto hosts departments of music, musical theatre and dance. Facilities include a professional theatre, a piano bar, electro-acoustic lab and state-of-the-art sound recording equipment. There is a collection of musical instruments. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
