Bacharelato (=Year 12). A three-year full-time professional course. Studies include performance (piano, organ, harpsichord, recorder, cello, violin, double bass), Gregorian chant, choral direction, organ playing, musicology, chant of the Eastern liturgy, history of the liturgy.
Institution Notes:
A government institution, with links to the Lisbon School of Music. It is a specialised vocational secondary school where students from age ten may be admitted (after audition) to continue general elementary and secondary schooling while also taking special church music subjects - performance (piano, organ, harpsichord, viola, violin, cello, double bass, bezel flute), choir, Gregorian chant, accompaniment, improvisation, study of church modes, music history and analysis, Latin, acoustics. The Institute collaborates in terms of providing facilities and teaching staff with the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa.
