The Ethnographic Museum of Transylvania (Muzeul Etnografic al Transilvaniei) was founded in 1922. It is not a teaching institution. It has a collection of traditional Romanian instruments as well as recordings and photographs of traditional costumes and instruments, together with information about the social and cultural context of the rituals in which the music is a component. There is an archive of traditional Romanian music.
