Institution Notes:

The National Village Museum (Muzeul Național al Satului „Dimitrie Gusti”), created in 1936, is operated under the Ministry of Culture. It is an open-air ethnographic museum showcasing traditional Romanian village life, with 272 authentic peasant farms and houses from all over Romania. It can trace its history back to 1936. While not a teaching institution, the museum has a considerable collection of traditional Romanian instruments. There are also sound and video recordings as well as photographs of traditional costumes and instruments.
