The Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music was established in 2003, and is a school of the National University of Singapore. It works in collaboration with the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, USA with which there is a student exchange program. A Professional Development component of the programs includes such projects as students becoming involved in community settings (local primary schools and other local venues). A new state-of-the-art conservatorium building was completed in 2005, with a 600-seat concert hall, recording studios, ensemble rooms, teaching and practice rooms. There is a Young Artist program for gifted teenage musicians and a Young Composers Academy for young people aged between 15 and 21. All undergraduates receive generous support that covers all financial costs, thanks to the Government of Singapore, the Yong Loo Lin Trust, and other benefactors. Language of instruction is English. An associate member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
