Bachelor of Arts (BA). Studies in performance, composition/theory, conducting (orchestral, choral and opera), music history, ethnomusicology (local traditional music), music education, music administration. Completion gives the qualification for teaching in a music school. There is an opera program.

Magister degree. Five years. Specialisation in musicology, ethnomusicology, organology. Doctor of Philosophy/Doctor of Arts (PhD/ArtD). Specialisation in performance, composition, conducting, music history, theory, opera, opera direction, music education.
Institution Notes:
The Academy, founded in June 1949, comprises faculties of music and dance, theatre, and film and television. The Faculty of Music and Dance is the most prestigious of Slovak Republic’s music education institutions. There is an opera program with regular opera performances. A department of early music is being planned. There are short performance master courses for overseas students and an annual guitar festival. Entry is following completion of secondary education. Language of instruction is Slovak, but some classes may be given in English or German. Member of the Association Europénne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
