Details:
Diploma (Absolutorium). Two years, following Maturitá examination. Studies include performance, composition, choral and orchestral conducting, music theatre, music education, church music. This gives the qualification for teaching music in a music school.
Institution Notes:
The Conservatory can trace its history back to 1918. It has a tradition in the performance of the music of the Viennese classical composers - Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven. There is an opera studio, with regular performances of operas by students. The library holds the manuscripts of several Slovak composers - Eugen Suchon, Miloslav Korinek and Michal Vilec. Main Language of instruction is Slovak, with some courses offered in English, German or Russian. Member of the Association Europénne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
