Institution Notes:
The university was founded in 1939. The College of Music was established in 1960 and a Music Research Center is affiliated with it. The College offers seminars, symposia and lecture concerts and organises an international exchange program. It publishes an annual Journal of the Science and Practice of Music. Facilities include 170 pianos, numbers of wind and stringed instruments, 50 practice rooms, rehearsal rooms, a 720-seat concert hall (Paiknam Hall), a performance room for Korean traditional music, an audio-visual room and a well equipped library which holds an extensive archive of early music in Korea. The College holds regular recitals and concerts as well as an opera production every second year. There is a second campus in Ansan City.
