Institution Notes:
This private university can trace its history back to 1886 with the establishment by the Methodist Church of Korea’s first school for women. It is one of the world’s largest universities for women and is based on Christian principles. The College of Music was founded in 1925, the Sacred Music Department in 1967, and the Korean Traditional Music Department in 1974. In 2010 the Graduate School of Performing Arts was established. There is an attached Institute of Music Research. Facilities include a 700-seat recital hall, a number of other fine performing spaces and fine facilities for electronic music study and composition.
