This institution is situated on Jeju Island, about 100 kilometers off the southern tip of the Korean Peninsula. It can trace its history back to 1952. In 2008 the Jeju National University of Education merged with the Cheju National University to form the Jeju National University as it is known today, the former Jeju National University of Education section now being know as the 'Teachers College of Jeju National University. The College of Arts and Design, newly established in 2012, offers programs in fine arts, music and industrial design.
