Maestro, especialidad en Educación Musical (=Bachelor). For teaching in primary schools. All students take basic studies in music; music is also offered as a teaching subject.
Institution Notes:
The University of Malaga was established in 1972. While there are no formal courses in music at the university, the research group MUSITHEMA from the University’s Faculty of Psychology and Education has been active in studying such topics as relationships between music and artistic education, music and creativity, music and neuroscience, music therapy and music psychology. There has also been cataloguing of the archives of Spanish music manuscripts and publications from the 16th to the 19th centuries. This research centres largely upon the musical archives of churches, cathedrals, monasteries, brotherhoods, foundations and diocesan archives, resulting in discovery of many hitherto unknown manuscripts of organ music in the archives of the Cathedral in Málaga.
