The Conservatori Liceu can trace its history back to 1837. It forms the highest level of the music educational activities of the Liceu Foundation (Fundació Conservatori Liceu), a non-profit cultural institution aiming not only to teach performance and compositional skills but also to forge a cultural approach toward the methodology of modern training. Its academic activity operates on three levels: • The Centre for Higher Education (the fully professional programs in the Conservatori Liceu); • The Professional Centre - which provides programs for children, young people and interested adults; • The Outreach Programs, with links to music schools and schools in the general education system. The Conservatori Liceu also has collaborative links with numbers of other national and international higher music education institutions, including the Berklee International network for Contemporary Music Education (USA), the Royal Academy of Music (UK) among many others. An active member of the Association Européenne des Conservatoires, Académies de Musique et Musikhochschulen.
