Institution Notes:
The National Institute of Education (NIE), Sri Lanka was established in 1986. The Department of Aesthetic Education is involved with the revision of the Sri Lankan school syllabuses in music, dance, art and drama. It prepares and publishes guides for school music teachers, produces audio-visual learning and teaching materials for classroom use, and conducts short-time refresher courses for teachers. The department also conducts distance mode teacher training. Language of instruction is Sinhala.
